Officially ... Barcelona Signs With Braithwaite

Barcelona announced their official contract with Danish international striker Martin Brithwaite, coming from Leganes, on a contract until the summer of 2024.

Braithwaite's transfer to Barcelona came after the Catalan club paid the value of the 18-million-euro contract clause with Leganes, and the value of the penalty clause in his contract with Barcelona is 300 million euros, the club announced.

Barcelona signed the player after the Spanish League agreed to conclude an extraordinary deal for the club, after it was proven that Osman Dembele had been absent for more than five months due to injury.

Braithwaite was chosen by technical director Kiki Sittin, who preferred it over several other options, because it is versatile and has speed and power.

Braithwaite was born in Denmark to a Danish mother, and a parent of Guyanese in South America, represented Denmark in 39 international matches, scored seven goals, and was on the list participating in the 2018 World Cup.

The 28-year-old has played with Leganes since January 2019 and has previously played for the English Middlesbrough, Toulouse and Bordeaux in France, Maitieland and Esbjerg in Denmark.

Braithwaite played with Leganes this season 27 games, scored eight goals, and is good at playing spearhead, second striker, or left wing.
